Renovations
The Dubois County, Indiana Commissioners hired Shireman to serve as CM for the expansion and renovation of their Jail, Community Corrections and Sherrif's office. This required a multi-level phasing plan to keep the facility operating at full capacity during the construction phase.
Phase 1: Included construction of access roads, utility reroutes, new parking areas, build the new jail pod, new kitchen and medical unit. As well as build the additions to Community Corrections and front entrance to the Sheriff s office.
Phase 2: Included moving into the new pod, renovate community corrections, building the temporary walls and set up temporary booking.
Phase 3: Finish up the Community Corrections remodeling, renovate the Sheriff's office and existing jail.
Phase 4: Finished up the exterior sitework and all interior work.
During the design phase, Shireman worked very closely with the owner, owners' staff, Architects and Engineers to find the most economic solutions while maintaining high quality standards, scheduling goals and to achieve budget goals.
Sizes at Completion:
Jail, Sheriff’s Office and Kitchen: 79,700 sf.
Community Corrections: 28,000 sf.
Shireman was very active in assisting the owner in identifying and developing the soft cost budget items, for example:
Financing costs, Furniture, Equipment, Moving costs, Supplies, Body scanner, data, communications, property storage equipment, etc.
