New Construction
The Floyd County Family YMCA is a distinctive, challenging architectural design. Jeff Shireman, Mark Shireman and their team coordinated strict quality control over the low-bid contractors to protect the city and the YMCA’s interests.
The multi-story building needed a deep foundation to support its weight and wind load. A cost analysis was conducted on structural materials. The base estimate of auger-cast piles appeared less expensive.
However, further review of soil reports proved that driven steel piles would remove the risk of cost add-ons that auger-cast piles would have yielded.
The project finished $630,000 under budget and delivered on schedule.
“I have been through two major construction projects and thus far there is no comparison to the quality of the management services on this project.”
